During her training at Clip Joint Adelaide Melissa gained extensive experience in the areas of television and cat walk. Melissa took head on the challenge of such high profile and pressured situations and she applies these skills to the most important day of a bride’s life. Melissa is committed to the business of weddings and established The Mermaids Wave in 1995. Melissa can even offer her own experiences and advice, having been married herself on a beach just outside Port Douglas. |
In addition to weddings both Melissa, our hairdresser, and Vicki, our senior make up artist, have been involved with film making and lecturing at resort staff seminars on presentation and grooming.
We can recommend other wedding services you may need such as photographers, florists, accommodation, wedding vehicle hire, marriage celebrants, restaurants, caterers and options for the reception.

Advice on getting married in
Tropical North Queensland
~ Take the weather at the time of the year into consideration.
If it is humid and you have long hair perhaps wear it up as a long hair style may flop. Our hairdresser through her experience here has perfected techniques to make your style last all day and long into the night.
Our make up artists use products that are proven to last in the tropics.
~ Think ahead about the hair style you like.
As you are not getting married at home, consult with your regular hairdresser to prepare for the wedding and bring some photos. . Another option is to bring photos of a style you have found in a magazine and meet with Melissa before the wedding or have a wedding trial with us.
Before you arrive ensure your hair is trimmed and your colour is fresh, although these are services we offer if you so wish. When choosing your style you may want to have flowers, a tiara, a veil or hair gems.
